MVHS: Good morning! Just a reminder that our semester one finals will be held this upcoming week. Things will kick off tomorrow (1/21) with finals during 7B & 8B. Wednesday we will have finals during 3A & 4A. Thursday and Friday look a little different where students will have finals for the first two periods each day and then open campus in the afternoon. IF students are done their finals they will be able to go home if they have their own transportation at 11:05 on Thursday and Friday only. Buses will be running at regular times so we will have places for students to be from 11:05 - 2:15 until bus runs begin if students do not have another way of getting home. If you have any questions, please call the main office at 364-4547. Please make sure your student(s) gets some rest today and let's have a great week! -Mr. Danylik & Mr. Milledge

MVHS: Falcon Families, this morning, in conjunction with the Rumford Police Department we conducted a school wide banned substance search with the assistance of Niko. As many of you know, this is a regular practice that we conduct multiple times each school year. Your students safety and wellbeing is our highest priority. We were once again extremely impressed with the maturity of our student body. If you have any questions, please call the main office at 364-4547. Have a great weekend! -Mr. Danylik & Mr. Milledge

The Town of Rumford has confirmed that due to a malfunction at the Mill there was a release of spent black liquor which resulted in precipitation of brown or tan colored snow. This is mostly in the areas of Town nearest to the Mill especially Falmouth Steet, Cumberland Street and Waldo Street. The pH of this substance is 10 which is alkali and therefore a skin irritant. Although it is non-toxic it should not be touched or otherwise put in contact with skin. Maine DEP has already been notified and are on their way to take a sample. We have been in contact with the Mill and they have already rectified the issue and have informed their regulators. In the meantime, we are also notifying the school district to let kids know not to play with "brown snow". It is likely advisable to keep your pets away from this snow. We are hopeful the rain tomorrow will wash most of the substance away and flush it off the ground and people's homes or property. For any questions or concerns please call the Town Manager's office - (207) 364-4576 press 1 and then 1 again.
