April 8, 2020

To RSU 10 Students, Parents, Guardians, Staff and Community Members,

Per Maine Commissioner of Education Pender Makin’s recommendation, with

Governor Mills’ approval of that recommendation, RSU 10 schools will be preparing for

remote learning for the remainder of the school year. If the Commissioner and/or

Governor were to declare it safe to return to on-site learning before our last day of

school, we would consider returning to on-site education at that time to allow students

and staff to have closure for this academic year.

It continues to be our goal to be a source of support during this stressful period.

During the school closure period, RSU 10 staff will continue to provide remote learning

activities for students. We understand that each household’s circumstances are

different. When it comes to remote learning, all that we ask is that you do the best that

you can. Please understand that it is our intent to make sure that students will be held

harmless when it comes to grading and grade promotion because of this national

pandemic, as long as a good faith effort is given.

We will continue providing meals for students at the various delivery sites and

have received news that we will be able to do this during April Break as well. Our

Nutrition Services will get a specific schedule out for the week of April 20-24th. We

can’t thank them enough for the work they do to make this happen!!

If you or your family find yourself in need, please do not hesitate to contact RSU

10 for additional support. We care and are here for you.

Sincerely,

Deb Alden

Superintendent
